Known as the Pink Fireman, Marshall (@For3Sisters) and his wife, Shannon, operate For 3 Sisters, Inc. This nonprofit group, which is also the Charity Partner for The Pink Event 2015, is an Olney, Md.-based nonprofit that helps those with breast cancer find much-needed support and resources.
Marshall took a few minutes out of his busy day to explain what he'll be talking about at The Pink Event 2015:
Question: What drew you to speak at The Pink Event?
Answer: I was asked to speak at a previous Pink Event. At that time, I felt my message connected with the audience and people could relate to what I was speaking about. The Pink Event is a great venue to reach our target audience--women--and I welcomed the opportunity to speak again at this year's event!
Question: What will be the focus of your talk?
Answer: I will share a little bit about my story surrounding the loss of my three sisters to breast cancer, the importance of self-breast health and early detection, and how attendees can improve the quality of life for a friend or family member fighting and/or surviving breast cancer.
Question: What takeaways will attendees have after your speech?
Answer: Attendees will take away the importance of regular self-breast exams and early detection screenings, such as mammograms. Also, they'll learn different ways they can bring comfort and support to someone who is fighting breast cancer.
Question: Why is it important to have events like The Pink Event for women?
Answer: The Pink Event provides a supportive, social atmosphere for women to enjoy and experience. Having an event which incorporates the fun of shopping and socializing along with speakers addressing important topics like breast cancer makes The Pink Event a unique and balanced event for women.
