Innovative Ways to Prevent Domestic Violence

For all the hassles we can have with the latest iPhone, The Pink Event® loves the way technology enhances our day-to-day life. From the way we're able to talk with our fans and future attendees to the way tamoxifen citrate and other cutting-edge drugs have lessened the death sentence of breast cancer, technology helps advance our and others' mission for a better life.

So when we saw this story on ABC News about an innovative date-rape prevention cup, we had to share. It's a genius concept. Boston-based company Drink Savvy made a material that changes color when it comes in contact with liquid laced with a date rape drug like GHB, Ketamine and Rohyphol (see the example below). These drugs are odorless, tasteless, and colorless, which makes them incredibly dangerous tools for criminals, primarily for date or party rape.

And this is a tragic part of domestic violence that too many college-aged women and others experience. So anytime women (and men) can be armed with information and technology to reduce their risk, we're all for it.
