Check out this Awesome Resource for Breast Cancer Patients!

We saw this on Facebook the other day and had to give it a quick shout out!

It's totally legitimate and totally awesome. Cleaning for a Reason is a Texas-based nonprofit that was started by the Debbie Sardone, owner of Buckets & Bows Maid Service.

Sardone got a call several years ago from a prospective client who couldn't afford house cleaning services because she was undergoing cancer treatment.

The woman hung up before Sardone could act and she vowed no other women dealing with cancer treatments would be denied a clean home. It's one more great resource for women doing their best in the midst of breast cancer and other cancers.

Learn more about this group here and stay tuned for future announcements for at the The Pink Event® 2015!

New App Provides Breast Cancer Support

We here at The Pink Event 2015 team love apps. Last year, our mega awesome DJ set up a more basic app in which attendees at The Pink Event could text song requests to him.

So that's why we loved this recent story in San Francisco Business Times about this new app that serves as a virtual support group for breast cancer patients.

Called HerStory, the app is a free collection of anonymous audio of patients discussing the disease and issues associated with it. As the Business Times notes, the motivation behind the app is to give patients support on their phone and ideas on treatment.

Read more about this novel effort here

Plus, we've got really great news coming about The Pink Event! Be sure you're signed up on our e-mail list (on the right side of this page) to get the news first.

Pink Spotlight: Nurturing the Natural You Sponsors the Pamper Lounge at The Pink Event®

We had a chance to talk with Susan Peterkin-Bishop, who heads up Nurturing the Natural You, which endeavors to nurture, teach, and share professional knowledge on how to naturally embrace ones mind, body, soul, and hair.

Susan, who also runs the natural hair salon Jaha Hair Studio, LLC, gave us a preview of what can be expected in the Brand New Pamper Lounge at the The Pink Event® 2015.  "I wanted to add something new and meaningful for our 5th year and the idea of a Pamper Lounge came to mind.  I think of this as the perfect addition to our event and completes the ultimate women's day out," noted the event founder, Tamika Josephs-Smith of Diamond Event Services, LLC.

Question: You're sponsoring the Pamper Lounge for The Pink Event 2015? What motivated you to do this? What will the Pamper Lounge offer?

Answer:  Nurturing the Natural You and The Pink Event are the perfect partners. The Pink Event is the ultimate women's day out, so my thought was that pampering should be a major part of this day.

This is the concept of Nurturing the Natural You—bringing and making more women understand that whole health also means taking time out to pamper themselves. This is not only because they deserve it, but also because their families and community will reap the benefits of a healthy, happy, and less stressed individual.

So in the Nurturing the Natural You Pamper Lounge, the ladies and gentlemen can enjoy hair care, nails, massages, make-up application, and DIY seminars on pampering themselves at home.

What International Women's Day Is & Where You Should Spend It (Hint: Think Pink Event 2015!)

We're super excited that The Pink Event® 2015 is less than five months away and falling on a fantastic day--International Women's Day  (March 8, 2015)

This celebration day, which has been observed since the early 1900's, is making more headway in the United States. It's already an observed holiday in several other countries where often men will honor their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc., with flowers and small gifts.

Plus, thousands of events are held to inspire women and celebrate their achievements...which is exactly the whole point of The Pink Event and why you should be there!

Did You Know? Latest in Breast Cancer News

We all hear that we should exercise more because it's good for our health. But did you know that many women with breast cancer are missing out on this vital component for maximizing their health?

According to a new study that was featured in HealthDay News, women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are less likely to meet exercise recommendations that have linked physical activity with longer survival and better quality of life.

U.S. guidelines call for adults getting at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise (think fast walking) or 75 minutes of rigorous exercise (think spin class or Zumba). But only 35 percent of the women treated for breast cancer in the study met those recommendations after diagnosis.

When breaking the results down by race, African American women were 40 percent less likely than Caucasian women to meet the physical activity guidelines after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis.
