It's Almost Here! The Pink Event™ 2012 Amazes This Saturday

The Pink Event bursts onto the scene this Saturday, March 3, at the Holiday Inn in Laurel, Md., featuring specialized vendors and mini-inspirational sessions that promote women empowerment.

The annual one-day expo (from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) will have 25 women-focused merchants, providing everything from wickless candles, jewelry, and stationary to clothes, hair care, accessories and anti-cellulite products. The first 75 attendees will receive a "pink swag bag" filled with gift certificates, coupons, and other goodies.

"Ladies, this event is designed to be your day for pampering, friendship, and fun," says The Pink Event Founder Tamika Josephs-Smith. "We have combined a charitable mission with high-quality shopping for a winning event," she says, noting the expo will equally donate 65 percent of ticket sales to the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the House of Ruth Maryland.

The Pink Event also will feature live performances from local-area, neo-soul singer Yorrelle, who will perform from her 2010 debut album, "Feels Like Love." Learn more about the expo and buy early tickets for $15 each ($20 the day of the event) at www.thepinkevent.net.

Prince George's County Department of Social Services, Foster Care & Adoption Talks with The Pink Event™

One thing we're excited about with our elite selection of niche vendors participating in The Pink Event 2012 is that they're not all the same—or even selling products or services. This is the case with the Prince George's County Department of Social Services, Foster Care and Adoption. The agency instead is hoping to bring some much-needed attention to the county's need for foster and adoptive parents.

We sat down with agency representative Lisa Robertson to talk about what Prince George’s County hopes to achieve with Pink Event attendees:

Tiffany Moody Brings Makeovers to The Pink Event™ 2012

Makeup artist Tiffany Moody loves helping women look their best—and she’ll help ladies understand how to achieve this during a mini-inspirational session at The Pink Event (March 3), a one-day, women-focused expo held at the Holiday Inn in Laurel, Md.

Moody—a makeup artist for The Pearl Spa in Fulton, Md.—is one of six local experts speaking at The Pink Event’s full line-up of women-focused sessions, covering topics from image makeovers to understanding domestic violence.

One makeup myth Moody says she’s ready to challenge is the rule that certain skin tones have limited color palettes. “I think a lot of women are afraid of colors. But that’s mainly because they don’t know how to apply their makeup tools,” says Moody, who applies makeup to celebrity clients like Radio One owner Cathy Hughes.
