Question: What drew you to speak at The Pink Event?
Answer: I was asked to speak at a previous Pink Event. At that time, I felt my message connected with the audience and people could relate to what I was speaking about. The Pink Event is a great venue to reach our target audience--women--and I welcomed the opportunity to speak again at this year's event!

Woman Throws Good-Bye Boobs Party

This light-hearted effort in dealing with a heavy subject made us chuckle. A British radio and TV presenter, who faced a high likelihood of having breast cancer, did something a little different in preparation for a preventive double mastectomy surgery.

She  held a good-bye party for her breasts. According to The Huffington Post, the event wasn't a funeral but rather a celebration of her life and natural boobs. See the full story here

The Pink Event® 2015 is a big proponent of breast cancer awareness. In fact, we are giving 20% of all ticket sales to our 2015 Charity Partner, For 3 Sister, Inc. a nonprofit organization that provides support and resources to breast cancer patients and their families.

New App Provides Breast Cancer Support

We here at The Pink Event 2015 team love apps. Last year, our mega awesome DJ set up a more basic app in which attendees at The Pink Event could text song requests to him.

So that's why we loved this recent story in San Francisco Business Times about this new app that serves as a virtual support group for breast cancer patients.

Called HerStory, the app is a free collection of anonymous audio of patients discussing the disease and issues associated with it. As the Business Times notes, the motivation behind the app is to give patients support on their phone and ideas on treatment.

Read more about this novel effort here

Plus, we've got really great news coming about The Pink Event! Be sure you're signed up on our e-mail list (on the right side of this page) to get the news first.

What International Women's Day Is & Where You Should Spend It (Hint: Think Pink Event 2015!)

We're super excited that The Pink Event® 2015 is less than five months away and falling on a fantastic day--International Women's Day  (March 8, 2015)

This celebration day, which has been observed since the early 1900's, is making more headway in the United States. It's already an observed holiday in several other countries where often men will honor their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc., with flowers and small gifts.

Plus, thousands of events are held to inspire women and celebrate their achievements...which is exactly the whole point of The Pink Event and why you should be there!

Did You Know? Latest in Breast Cancer News

BREAST CANCER PATIENTS NOT EXERCISING ENOUGH

We all hear that we should exercise more because it's good for our health. But did you know that many women with breast cancer are missing out on this vital component for maximizing their health?

According to a new study that was featured in HealthDay News, women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are less likely to meet exercise recommendations that have linked physical activity with longer survival and better quality of life.

U.S. guidelines call for adults getting at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise (think fast walking) or 75 minutes of rigorous exercise (think spin class or Zumba). But only 35 percent of the women treated for breast cancer in the study met those recommendations after diagnosis.

When breaking the results down by race, African American women were 40 percent less likely than Caucasian women to meet the physical activity guidelines after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis.
