The Pink Event™ Charities Give a Face to Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer

When you first hear Krisine Olaes speak, you believe that she's simply an advocate for change and is passionate about bettering the lives of women. But there's more than that.

This college-educated professional also found herself in an abusive personal relationship. Kristine and Adrian Faunterloy talked about the need for abused women and children to have a place like the House of Ruth Maryland to go to, and warned that getting away from an abusive relationship isn't as easy as it may seem.

Meanwhile, volunteers Belinda Yattis and Emily Mariner for the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure showed how miniscule breast lumps can be while still causing cancerous masses in women's breasts. "Something this tiny is what can change your life and your families’ lives," Mariner says. Yattis also says women need to look out for dimpling, hardening, asymmetry, discoloration in addition to questionable lumps in their breasts.

Thanks to The Pink Event’s two charities for talking about breast cancer and domestic violence awareness.
