Tomorrow marks Halloween and the end of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There have been some interesting efforts to educate women about breast cancer and prevention methods, from a Tweeting bra to the "Pink Out" of The White House.
Ultimately, a successful awareness month keeps women alert and engaged all year long. Women who conduct monthly breast exams, limit alcohol consumption, up their fruits and veggie intake, exercise regularly and keep their weight within "normal" limits are on a good path.
But they can do so much more. They can get involved in support and education groups devoted to eradicating breast cancer. And they can attend charitable events that put the spotlight on breast cancer.
The Pink Event® 2014 is one to mark for the calendar. Happening on March 9, 2014, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Columbia, Md., this annual empowerment event donates select proceeds to a local breast cancer charity. You won't want to miss the "ultimate girls' day out," especially if you care about breast cancer.
While we're announcing our speakers later this year, we can reveal that a strong breast cancer survivor is scheduled to speak about her treatment journey, and how she embraced wide-ranging emotions to come out stronger from the experience.
